Conceal And Carry: How To Properly Carry A Handgun When You Are Licensed For It

There are businesses cropping up everywhere now that will teach you how to shoot a gun and provide you with a "conceal and carry" license if you want to carry a gun around with you. A lot of ladies carry a gun in their purses, but really, that is not a smart idea. It makes it difficult to pull the gun out when you need it, and a child could go into your purse and get the gun at any time. If you have successfully completed your "conceal and carry" licensing class, and you can now carry a handgun on your person anywhere in public (some places still prohibit it, like hospitals and city jails), then you need to know the proper way to carry the gun.
Concealed Holsters
This is how you should carry a concealed weapon. If it is good enough for the police, it is good enough for you. Gun shops will sell you holsters for your belt and pants; they strap onto your side or your back. You can also get an under-the-arm holster that conceals your weapon under a suit jacket or coat such that no one can see it while you walk around unless you flash it or take off your coat/blazer. If you have a very small handgun, you can choose the ankle strap holster or, for the ladies, the thigh strap holder that allows you to grab your weapon right before someone attempts to assault you.
Learning to Strap on and Wear the Holsters
After you choose and purchase a concealed holster made to fit the gun you have, you may want some instruction on how to put on the holster. A gun dealer can show you how. Then you can walk out of the store, armed and legally allowed to carry a concealed weapon.
Still Want to Carry It in Your Purse?
Carrying a gun in your purse is akin to guys shoving the barrel of the gun downward into the front of their pants. It is concealed? Yes, it is, but if it goes off, you (or someone close to you) is going to be seriously injured. If you still insist on carrying your gun in your purse, ladies, or your briefcases (guys and gals), then make sure there is a trigger lock on the gun. Better yet, it is smartest of all to put the gun in a portable gun "safe," which is essentially a carrying case with a combo lock.
